Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

A penumbra refers to a partially shaded outer region of a shadow that an object casts. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the faint penumbral portion of the earth’s shadow. The lunar surface is not completely shadowed by the earth’s umbra (darkest part of a shadow). Instead, observers see only the slightest dimming near the lunar limb closest to the umbra. The eclipse may be undetectable unless at least half of the moon enters the penumbra.
Tonight, February 9, the full Moon will pass through the outskirts of Earth’s shadow, producing a penumbral lunar eclipse. The event will be visible to the naked eye as a dusky shading of the northern half of the Moon. According to NASA, this event is the deepest penumbral eclipse in 2009, with a penumbral magnitude of 0.899.

..light of the night sky..

As I was walking towards the net cafe in our place, I can't stop myself from gazing up high. It had been very gloomy these past few nights due to the heavy rain but now Mr. Moon peeped and showed its big smile. With this, I can't myself but think if what others might be doing right now. This night is fit for lovers, especially that it's the love month, to stroll and gaze upon the stars. The light of the night sky would truly make their moment perfect.

..as it blooms..

From the painting itself we could see its beauty, how much more is it in reality. This work of art was made by a Filipino. It pictures out a young girl picking flowers from a garden. From the painting alone we cannot tell her reason for picking those flowers but we can tell through her smile that a flower doesn't only serve as a decoration but it also may lighten up someone else's day. It is one of God's masterpieces.
